Free Resource Link: 99 Punctuation Rules for Court Reporters Videos

Ken Wick subscribes to the idea that 80% of the questions about punctuation in a court reporter’s transcript are covered by 20% of the material in Morson’s, Gregg and/or Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation.

Wick has written an excellent little book, The Essential 99 Punctuation Rules for Court Reporters, that not only covers that 20%, but also contrasts the references when they disagree with each other about a rule.

He has created YouTube playlist, 99 Punctuation Rules for Court Reporters, based on the book, that comprises 47 videos for a total of over 6½ hours of free punctuation education. That may seem like a lot—unless you’re a word geek like me. Wick includes an emphasis on those areas in which the recommendations of those three most common punctuation resources for court reporters disagree.

The video included here is the first in the series: an overview of the playlist “course.”

If this video playlist piques your interest, Wick offers a book and workbook, available at Amazon, by a similar name: The Essential 99 Punctuation Rules for Court Reporters
