MINIMUM CHARGE
The minimum charge for any transcript is $10, equivalent to 20 read pages.
LINES PER PAGE
The page rates above assume the common 25-lines-per-page format. Add 6¢ per page (fixed, across all service levels) for a 28-lines-per-page transcript.
EXPERT WITNESSES
Because expert and technical testimony is often denser, requires slower reading, and has more terms to research, it can often lead to unprofitable proofreading. And as much as I love my clients, I do this so that I don’t have to take a part-time job; so making $5.00 an hour is not particularly attractive. Therefore, when a witness is acknowledged as an expert witness, there will be a paltry 5¢ a page “Expert Testimony” charge added.
BILLING
New clients and one-off jobs will be invoiced on completion. Invoices are payable on receipt.
Established clients will be invoiced on the 1st & 15th. Payment is due within 14 days.
I invoice via the Wave app and can accept cards & bank transfers directly from the invoice. I also accept Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal.
TURNAROUND TIME
I take off Sundays and two annual holidays: Christmas Day and Thanksgiving. Please do not include those days when determining which turnaround level to request.
This means, for example, if you send me a job on Friday at 6:00 P.M.:
▪ At the Rush service level, you should expect it back by 6:00 P.M. on Monday, not Sunday, because I take Sundays off.
▪ If you need it by Sunday evening or waiting for you Monday morning, that would be charged at the Expedite service level because I would need to complete it by Saturday evening — or work on my day off.
The turnaround time starts at the time (in the email header) you send me the file. Exception: Files sent between 8:00 P.M (Central) and 8:00 A.M. or on Sunday will be “clocked in” at 8:00 A.M. the next workday.
While I rarely miss a deadline, turnaround times are not guaranteed.
NOTE: I may temporarily suspend accepting new jobs for billing reasons. Specifically, if there is an overdue balance, I may pause job acceptance until that is paid.
